I REALLY LOVE THE CORAL. i'm sorry. i just can't get over how brilliant they are. i can't wait untill their next albummy comes out. i am reading the wicker man and it's really, really interesting and weird. i love it. i really have to rent the film. i love weird british people. i love the lads. and i still can't get over the shirt nick was wearing on conan.

so, i went to best buy yesterday. i am very impressed w/ the music selection they have there. i'm serious. they had stacks of the music, libertines and coral cds and they even had moldy peaches and adam green cds. i was so tempted to buy one even though i have both of them. haha. oh, and you know what's better? "dreaming of you" started playing in the store when i was looking at their cd. seriously, i was about to die. the coral playing at a random best buy in the US. pah. go them. best buy is officially cool in my "cool list" now. oh, i saw this super special edition of rushmore which cost about $40. i really, really wanted it but i had to buy other things so i didn't get it. poo.

i finally watched chinatown yseterday. now i can write my paper.... no more putting it off. bah.

John Wayne! Are you tryin' to tell me he's a fag?

thank you, thank you todd haynes. i hadn't seen anything that has struck me this much in a while. the montage sequences were so, so brillant. the beauty of the images combined w/ the brilliant editing.... aahhh.... it's even more brilliant than the montages in requiem, and damn, those are pretty good ones. john voight was amazing. he was so natural and naive yet so perfect. he was hot too, surprisingly. although i didn't really see why the film was rated X when it came out. well, it is disturbing to some extent, i guess. the q&a session afterwards was interesting. todd haynes looks like he's in his mid twenties (he's like spike jonze, he has that really boyish look) but apparently he's as old as my parents. that's weird. but, he's a really intellectual, energetic guy w/ lots of crazy ideas. he knows a lot about cool music too. oh, it was funny when curtis hanson was like 'so, your film velvet unerground...' dude, that's the band.... his next film is about bob dylan. awesome. some guy was like so, what was it like working w/ julian moore and what's she like.... i should have been like, so, how's ewan mcgregor and his 'thing'? haha. i really want to see his earlier films. what was really odd about the film was that some of the andy warhol crew was in the film. and i had just started reading the screenplay for i shot andy warhol today. it was such a coincidence. anyways, i did get the screenplay for the wicker man as well, as recommended by lee of the coral. it's this weird horror film and the band is in love w/ it, hence the video for goodbye. and being the weirdos that me and them are, i think i'll like it too. i think i'll start reading it in erkki's class tomorrow.

what's up with my heart when it skips a beat?

i really need to be writing a paper and working on my drawing. bbuuuuuuukkkwwwwwokkk. i hate how most of my friends are out of school now. poo to them. i'm currently listening to the coral since i get to see them tomorrow. that also adds to the i don't want to study-ness. i love james skelly's voice. bill..... i wonder if a lot of people will be there. it would really, really suck if there isn't. i'm starting to get the coral fever. i can't wait to hear their new stuff. are kings of leon that famous? i personally don't really like their songs so i dunno if i'll be able to handle it. they dress well and that one guy's cute though. ooooohh, weird al is signing at virgin tommorrow so maybe i'll peek in before i go. that would be quite a laugh.

What's It For Anyways?

ooooh. i was so good today. i went and exercised! and i even ate healthy!!! wow, there. what the hell happened? but i'm really sore now. it's good though, i felt very productive. haha. i need motivation though. so i need jackie to come with me but whatever. i'm going to be healthy...... but watch me forget about it in 3 days.... haha.

jane campion is a genious. i love her works, excluding portrait of a lady though. we saw holy smoke today. soooooo good. her works are so weird but somehow passes for mainstream. man, she is my new idol. kate winslet was brilliant in it as well. the TA said that her new film had meg ryan in it. that's so weird. i really want to see how the dynamics of that work out. ah, she's just a lovely genious. the other films i saw today were gun crazy and sunset blvd. sunset blvd. i had seen before but the lady's brilliant acting will haunt me for the rest of the week. ahhh. she gives me shivers. did anyone catch where buster keaton was? anyways, i'm seeing christopher nolan tommorrow. weeee....... i'm probably not going to be able to eat for quite a while tommorrow, but who cares... i wonder if he's working on anything now.... oh, kate winslet is in the new michel gondry film along w/ jim carrey, kristen dunst (whore!) and elijah wood. and rhys ifans and drew barrymore are in his other new film. i love rhys ifans. twin town was the best. i love michel gondry's shorts. i really need to buy the human nature dvd so i can watch it over and over and over.

the bigger, the better

i saw two 3 hr long films today. it was great. i fell asleep in the second one though cos it went on and on and on and on and on..... you get it. the first one was "portrait of a lady" which i had seen before. yeah, it's still not that impressive. nicole kidman used to be a horrible actress, i think. she doesn't really act , i guess. she sort of plays every character a certain way. but recently she's been gettting better. i'm impressed with her improvement. it was all tom cruise i tell you. i love her accent but it's really not any accent. it's the kidman accent.

Whoo hoo. Christopher Nolan is coming to speak this week. i am sooo there. and they are showing the ORIGINAL version of Blade Runner which is quite exciting. todd haynes is coming next week i think. i am so there as well. aarrhh. i need to see velvet goldmine again. why won't spike come?

i just woke up and it's already, 3:30. what the hell happened to the day??? i dunno and i'm hungry.

i sat in the sculpture garden reading screenplays yesterday. it was fun. i think i got a little tanned. the public policy is building is a hang out for skater kids on he weekend. they were cute. reminded me of certain people..... aww...

i've been having the wirdest dreams/nightmares. not so much that it's scary/sad but it's so weird. of some of them i wish it was true. it involved spike jonze, adam green, the two pauls, ewan mcgregor, karen o, kate hudson, the phil and the nutter. and carl from the libbies told me i needed to take photos of him in my flat at the end. and we sat in my flat and read harry potter to each other at which nikolai fraiture came to deliver pizza. so weird.

the libbies on dave was kinda not interesting. first of all they played a random song..... cos i guess all the other songs aren't appropriate. but whatever, carl sang and it was cute. highlight of the late nite tv was ewan mcgregor talking about his "thing" though. that was sooo great. i love him. oh, yeah yeah yeahs were cute as well. i loved karen's dress, although it was falling off. she's soo cute. and nick was hot too. brian was nromal as usual. i bet you if i started dressing like karen no one would talk to me here. haha.

Awww..... Ewan is co sute. I really can't wait to seeeee Down With Love. Ewan & Renee make such a cute couple.

I saw "The Piano" today. I saw it when it first came out so... when I was like 10. I related to Flora's character more because she was more my age. It's a brilliant film. Holly Hunter is such an amazing actress. And furthermore, Jane Campion is an awesome director. I guess I've always judged her with "Portrait of a Lady" in mind ( and that wasn't really a good film at ALL) but after watching "Sweetie" and "The Piano," I've realized how intriguing her works are. She is really an interesting character as well. I like the fact that she doesn't say that she is a feminist filmmaker unlike the previous filmmakers we've looked at. It's so interesting that she is heavily influenced by surrealism and David Lynch because when you think about it, it's so true. For some reason, "Sweetie" reminded me of John Waters' work. I wanted to check out his book at the library but some fool had checked it out till like November so I guess I'll just go to Ackerman and sit there and read it. I feel like watching a John waters film. Pink Flamingo or Serial Mom. Too bad, I have ten mill other films to watch. I guess I'll be sitting in the media lab all weekend. I personally think Casablanca is a piece of shit compared to Jane Campion or John Waters' work. I guess I'm just not into the whole cheesy, cliched, stereotypical Hollywood narrative. But I won't say that in my presentation tomorrow. I'll just talk about the midgets. I hate the American Film class I'm taking. It's way too industry oriented and not interesting at all. We hardly ever talk about the films. I mean, it's good knowledge to have but still... I'd rather be taking some other film class. And I hate how we can't pick our own film to write about for our next paper. Poo.
