i gotta tell you all about it, i gotta scream and shout it and i say YEAH, YEAH, YEAH, YEAH, YEAH, YEAH

yes, i am deeply obsessed with the loverly devo. i am really considering buying the little helmet to wear around. god dammit, i really should have gotten the devo shirt instead of the radiohead shirt. crap. anyways, it was my birthday a couple of days back and my mom got me the 2 disc-ed devo CD along with other cool things which made me really happy. and i've been listening to it non-stop since then. i am such a obsessive little person.

anyways, i finally have a new camera. weee. yes, i'm excited. i'm going to go on photo taking excursions around the city.

so three kings was on telly yesterday and i watched it cos i had never seen it before and it stars the one and only spike jonze. gawd, he was like a semi-action hero, i was very impressed. cos i always had this mental image of him being like this really dorky, non-athletic person. but then again, he does skateboard and stuff. he's got like this really weird tone of voice but then he played a very spazzy role. when i spoke to him i remember him having a somewhat deep voice, so that was kinda weird. i sort of lost interest towards the end cos yes he dies but then i kept on worrying if his body was okay. haha. anyawys, it was interesting to see him act and be a normal person. (cos he's not really human.....)

speaking of not-really-humans acting, there's this tv show i'm obsessed with for the past month and it's called 'oh, mikey.' dude, it's the funniest show ever. it's on at like 5 on saturdays and every episode is like 5 min. and all the characters are mannequins. gawd, it's hilarious. the new dvd just came out so i really need to buy it.

the great mr. adam green has new pic-sys up on his loverly webby sitely. i like the photo of him eating. yes, he's all about eating. haha. he's doing canadian dates with the still pete-less libbies. pete apparently is playing reading/leeds with his so-called new band... and also he is bald. yeah..... will someone please tell him that he needs to go back to his 'old' band and that carlos still loves him? whirlwind heat has new pic-sys up by the talented mr. terry richardson also. i was looking at his website a while ago and my mom thought i was looking at porn sites. haha. yeah, not really.

super furry animals are coming in november.... and fountains of wayne are coming too.... poo....

i saw a fairly old guy wearing a the kills shirt today, that was kinda weird.....

oh and thanks to everyone who sent me cute little cards and whatnots. i really enjoyed the monkey shaped pasta. thanks guys.

When a good time turns around, You must whip it!!

so, i guess i'll write about the fun filled weekend @ Summer Sonic. it started at 11:00 am with the star spangles who are a punk band from new york. they were perfect to start the day with and i really liked the green jacket the vocal was wearing. i live for speed, yay! anyways, as i was watching them happily, someone came along and blocked my view (and i was in the front row). turn out it's dante from hot hot heat with his little can of heineken. lovely. i tapped him on the shoulder and was like good luck. he smiled and said thanks. awww.... cuteness.
anyways, hot hot heat came on next. they were tres brilliant as usual and played a bunch of songs from their album which was arranged very synth poppy. they played one new song which had something to do with making a mess. i can't quite remember. anyways, steve is the cutest thing ever!
then i ran over to catch the very last song of mew which happened to be comforting sound, my favorite. i had seen them the day before and played like 3 songs including she came home for christmas which is another song i like so i was statisfied.
next up was kings of leon. yes! i was very impressed by their show. i think all the songs were arranged a little different from the hob show but it sounded great. what i was not impressed with was these girls who were standing infront of me (in the first row). they were sort of just standing there not really watching them. how rude. i was about to slap them. seriously, if you're not watching the band, don't even come in the first place and don't fucking stand in the front row. and it's not like the girls stayed to watch the kills. anyways, the tour manager took me to see the lads after their set. they seemed really happy with their show and the audience. although they were complaining about the heat. caleb is still a little hottie. awwness. i didn't stay long cos i wanted to see the kills. they sound soo much better live. vv is sooo purty. i rested for a bit, ate watching new found glory on screen who were perfoming outside, not that i like them or anything.....
went down to the indoor stage during puddle of muddshit so that i could see travis. yeah, i had to sit through that shutuff. was horrible. my plan was to watch travis for like 20 min then run down to catch devo's entire set. turns out it doesn't work like that. one thing though, hardcore travis fans are scary. after puddle of mudd, i got pushed to like the 2nd row or something and couldn't really move. crap. travis came out and i heard 4/6 of their new songs. they were all good but i liked beautiful occupation the best. fran's hair is fairly long now and it looks kinda funny.... after 40 min into the show, patrick lead the way and i finally was able to squeeze myself out from the crazy travis fans to see devo.
man, devo was FUCKING AMAZING. was the best show of the entire festival. i wish we had gotten out of travis faster. they are all so old and fat cute men now but they put on such a great show. they were waering their little yellow spacey construction worker outfits like the good old days then later changed into their black outfits w/ the shorts and the kneepad things. it was sooo much fun. the vocal's voice hasn't changed from like 20 years ago which was soooo amazing. awww.... i love cute old men screaming are we not men? we're devo. so i didn't end up watching blur. i hear their show wasn't that great..... end of day one.

day two started at the sonic stage with the rocket summer. patrick and jeff had gone off to the polyphonic spree. sadness. anyways, i had seen bryce a couple of days ago. but he was tres jet lagged = performance wasn't that great. roadie was telling me about how tired he was and how hectic his schedule was..... the poor kid. there were a couple of problems w/ the drums but it was such a fun show. he apparently memorized a bunch of phrases in japanese and was screaming it every now and then. but what was soo cute was when he said that the drums were broken. awwness. and as adam green, his ass was half showing when he was trying to fix it although he didn't quite know how. he dived into the audience at the end at which point his belt broke and he just threw it in to the audience. bryce is so amazing. he plays every instrument used on his album and writes every song. the kid is a genious. also, he's playing at the troub on 8/8 so go see him if you can.
ran off to catch the last few songs by rooney which happened to be all of my favourite songs but them. sucked that i could see everyone else but loue who is my favourite. robert seemed very full of himself.
anyways, i wasn't really there for them but the rapture who was playing after them. there were tons and tons of people there since everyone came early so that they could see mando diao. i felt really bad for the rapture although i think they're ten times better than mando diao because no one was really listening to them. i'm telling you, these people are soo rude. you can at least fucking clap when a songs over? luke and gabe were setting up their equipment though, no one seemed to notice that they are the band. i tried to take pictures with my cell phone but it didn't quite work. i got gabe to wave at me though. :) luke did his usual little robot dance as well as gabriel. the more i think about it, luke looks like rob from the moosic and vito resembles philly when he's drumming. it felt like me, patrick and jeff were the only people dancing despite the bizillion people around us. sadness. but it got better when they played house of jealous lovers at the end, so that was cool. but i did see gabe telling luke before they got off that they could play another song but luke just shook his head and they went off. seriously, fuck the stupid mando diao fans, do they have to be that rude?
next up was mando 'our fans are horrible' diao whom i've come to not like as much since the rapture incident. patrick and jeff went to the back but i stayed in the front. okay, there are soooo many fucking mando diao fans it's ridiculous. the entrance had to be shut down before they even started playing. it was crazy. i saw tons of girls being pulled out during the show due to the craziness. the security was throwing water at us every 2 seconds so people didn't die. performace wise they put on a great show. i love bjorn's voice plus he's really hot. but they are sooo fucking cocky, esp. gustaf. little cj was jumping up and down infront of me which was highly entertaining. i was soaking wet which was lovely as well but i think of them less because of their stupid fans.
interpol was next at which almost the entire audience left. jeff and patrick came up and laughed at me cos i apparently looked like 'i got thrown into a swimming pool.' interpol, interpol, interpol!!!!!! i love interpol and paul's sexy voice and self. aahhhhh. he wasn't wearing his little sunglasses today. they put on a descent show. such a pity carlos was having problems with the bass for a bit. though history repeated itself as next came the mars volta fans who weren't as rude since they were less in number. but i still felt bad for them..... i swear to god, these stupid people are so rude.
anyawys, we went and bought some ice cream and headed over to the outdoor stage to see stereophonics. turns out good charlotte was still playing. but it took as forever and forever to get into the stadium. and it wasn't until like the thrid of fourth song that we got in. we squeezed our way through so that we could see the strokes near the front as we sang along to have a good day. kelly was wearing this funny red hat. but his voice sounded fantastic live and i was really impressed. this was the first time i had gone outside since the beginning of the festival so i was seriously about to cry because of the heat.
time for the strokes!!! yay, yay, yay!!! i was watching matt closely as he was sound checking the drums. when the show started everyone pushed forwards and all i could see was nikolai and bits of nick. jules was wearing a ghostbusters tank top and man he looks like adam since he lost a lot of weight. the loverly nikolai was wearing this funny poiple football jersey thingy which didn't quite suit him, as a matter of fact didn't suit him at all. they played three new songs. i had heard 2 of them before but i really liked the third songs which was called reptilica or something like that. funniest moment of the day came about when jules sang a chorus of my way in japanese. i was very impressed with his pronunciation unlike bryce whom i had no idea what he was saying. anyways, their set was very, very short but awesome. and i was soaking wet again. we retreated to the back cos i whined that i wanted to see jonny.

"man, you're so out of tune!!! can we go again? yeah, we've got time....." thom yorke to jonny greenwood

radiohead was the main headliner and man they put on a great show. it was a really, really great. not only did they play creep at the end (which has not been played live for a while) but thom was in a really good mood and jonny's performance was excellent except for that one bit above. thom was screaming random japanese words which didn't make sense sometimes but that's ok. anyways, the setlist was as follows.

    01 there there
    02 2+2=5
    03 exit music
    04 morning bell
    05 national anthem
    06 backdrifts
    07 sit down. stand up
    08 no surprises
    09 bones
    10 kid a
    11 go to sleep
    12 just
    13 a punch-up at a wedding
    14 paranoid android
    15 idioteque
16 everything in its right place

    encore:
    17 pyramid song
18 a wolf at the door
    19 karma police
    20 creep

ahhh. lovely. fireworks went up after they played which was a nice little treat at the end. fun, fun, fun. but i was tres exhausted and i had to go to work the next day as well as the rapture/polyphonic spree gig. the rapture put on a fun, dance-y show as usual. since they were only opening for the polys there were more poly fans obviously but they weren't rude at all which tells you that mando diao fans are v. cocky as well as the band. stoopid. the polys put on a fun show as well and it made want to wear the little robe around. haha.
