9.15.2003the hardest button to buttonmy god. michel gondry has done it again. i'm sure everyone has seen the white stripes viddy by now.... genious. i love how the beckster is randomly in the video. okay, i really need to re-learn french. so, there was a spike jonze interview special thingie on tv and it was my second time around to watch it. i watched it with my mom this time and she was telling me how she thought spike was really dorky and was imcompetent of expressing himself cos he would stutter and stuff... i was trying to explain to her that spike is like that because he's too sensitive and smart and it's hard for him to express himself cos too much comes to his mind. and he usually doesn't do lots of interviews and whatnot. but she didn't really buy my argument cos i'm imcompentent of verbally expressing myself (not being conceited or anything.) haha. she thinks he's like a little kid. well, enough about my mom on spike. but it was interesting to hear him talk about his emphasis on story. cos when i think of spike's work i think of style more than story maybe because what i think of are his music videos more than his films. i think hearing him talk about that gave me a bigger persepective in viewing and thinking of his works and the consistent styles within them as a whole. and also what is natural to him. he talked about david fincher's work and how every shot is perfectly planned and how he would like to try doing something like that and having that control. but then it would really work cos it won't be natural to him. i thought it was interesting that he brought fincher up because they both started out doing music viddys to film though they are completely different in terms of their work. okay i think i should stop now but yes the dvd is finally coming out!!!!!!! check out this webby sitey! wee!!!!!!! and to all those who worship gondry and jonze, this year's resfest is for you. :) so i went and saw the lovely jason mraz. gawd, he has such a wonderful wonderful voice and he is really good live. i was very very impressed since i went thinking that he'd be one of those cute faced teenie bopper band boy (i later found out that he wasn't that cute.) he came out with his acoustic guitar and sang a couple and his band came out and played my favie curbside prophet. he sang a lot of songs which were from his old ep's and whatnot which i had not gotten around to listening but they sounded good so i'll have to do that soon. i did get to talk to him for a while as well which was fun. -setlist- 1.Halfway Home 2.Tonight, Not again 3.Curbside Prophet 4.I'll Do Anything 5.Absolutely Zero 6.Common Pleasure 7.1000 Things 8. Unfold 9.You And I Both 10.No Stopping Us 11.The Remedy 12.Sleep All Day 13.Too Much Food the darkness are fab. buy their album. you won't regret it. pete from the libbies is in prison now.... makes me want to cry everytime i hear don't look back into the sun. adam green news... 9/10 Finally Adam's single JESSICA is released today in the US on Rough Trade. The tracklisting is: Jessica, Friends of Mine, Don't Smoke/Bronx Zoo 1989, What A Waster, Kokomo (with Ben Kweller). Sorry for the delay! 8/27 Adam is in trouble with the law again!! This time it's for having an open alcohol container out in the street... He will appear in court next week to plead guilty to the charge. oh and apparently bk and lizzy are married. bless 'em. they make the cutest couple. i want to come back for thanksgiving break.... mew... the darkness... super furry animals... mando diao... yeah bands that won't play in the us. bah.

9.01.2003you don't understand me so stand back and let me....i haven't been online in ages because of work but it's over now. yay! so i will be busy replying to everyone's e-mails later today. anyways, i love the strokes. i'm reaaaaaally looking forward hearing their new album. mtv did a summer sonic special yesterday and they played 'reptilia' by the strokes-ies which is my favourite song of the moment. i forgot to tape it though..... but i do have the mp3 of it. and i also have mps' of 'supernova', 'ze newie' ( i think it's called something else now cos it's not really new anymore but...) and jules singing 'my way' in japanese if anyone is interested. they also played wolf at the door and creep. apart from that the selection was quite shitty. i think they should have shown more footage of interpol and the rapture instead of mando diao. they cut hot hot heat at the end as well. stooopid bastards. but what was embarassing was i spotted myself a couple times.... yeah. the new webby site-y for sofia coppola's new filmy has been launched. it's a nice flashy little web site though i liked the virgin suicides site better. the ad for the soundtrack has been popping up everywhere as well, which supposedly is really, really good. well, just look at who's on it. for some reason the cover reminded me of the marc jacobs ad with sofia. scarlett johansson and giovanni ribisi make such a cute couple.... i wonder when they were shooting this.... i knew sofia was here last summer cos she popped up at the star wars premire. anyways, i can't wait to see it. i sort of want to enter the sweepstakes cos i want the t-shirt and whatnot though it'd be funny if i won the trip to tokyo. i really think that interpol should have won at the vmas. also the scientist viddy isn't that great compared to tim hope's coldplay viddys. and i don't think that the video itself is jamie thraves' best work. i'm going to go see mr. jason mraz with the funny hat. weee. i really want the ima robot album. ![]() cuteness....
